Can Botox help uneven eyebrows?
Overall, we all have some asymmetry in our body. Sometimes those are noticeable and sometime those are visible only under magnifier. In most cases, we were born with this.
Another factor is related to muscle strength. The same way that one hand is stronger than the other side, eyebrow muscles and forehead may act the same way. Some people have more dynamic lines in one side of forehead or one eyebrow is higher than the other side.
Botox is a muscle relaxant and that becomes a great tool to improve any asymmetry. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
Interestingly only some patients mention they have asymmetry after few days of Botox injections. These people in fact may have had some hidden asymmetry prior to injection. Fortunately they go through the transition period and by the end of 14th day they would look normal when Botox shows its full effect.
During consultation and injection of Botox, I consider all these factors and try to customize the injection based on the needs. Sometimes I inject slightly more Botox in one side for the same reason and expecting to see the results of asymmetry improvement. That way, Botox can help to improve uneven eyebrows. During the evaluation I would clarify if there is a dynamic cause for uneven eyebrows.
Because everyone responds differently to medications, Botox, In my practice we normally customize the amount all based on patient’s requirements, a little more on more hyperactive side. A follow up visit around 14th day of the Botox injection would help to understand better how the patient responded and how we can improve the techniques for the future injections.
